The operation of God's law to heal physical conditions was first presented and made practical to me about eighteen years ago. I observed the application of this law operating through a friend in my employ, who, I noticed, responded very readily to treatments given him by a Christian Science practitioner. The sudden change in this individual's condition, from one of pain to that of joy and happiness, was so marked that I was obliged to acknowledge that an unseen power for good was operating whenever I had knowledge of Christian Science being applied to this man's case.

I was therefore attracted to Christian Science, and later learned through the teachings of Mrs. Eddy that "there is but one real attraction, that of Spirit," as she tells us on page 102 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" and as I learned, further, that Spirit is God, I realized that through the experience related I was in fact attracted to God, good, in a natural and scientific way. I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing at the time, but did realize in no uncertain way that I was sadly in need of a Savior. My life up to that time could not be considered a well-spent one, either by my friends or myself. I had no knowledge of the Bible or its teachings, and absolutely no knowledge of God, His laws, or their operation. Feeling the need, I therefore turned whole-heartedly to this truth, which I had recognized as having divine authority; and in doing so I now realize that I was accepting the Master's invitation as recorded in Matthew: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me." His yoke I found to be easy; and daily pleasure was found in gaining knowledge of his practice and teaching.

After taking up the study of Science and Health, in connection with the Bible, I found that one by one the many burdens of sin I was carrying were being put off, and some of the diseases under which I was laboring were gradually disappearing; until, finally, with a sense of joy and thanksgiving, I could see I was privileged to enter and would be welcome in that house referred to by Christ Jesus as the Father's house of many mansions,— "an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens," a foretaste of eternal harmony.
