If one will read the works of Mrs. Eddy he will find on...

Gainesville Daily Register

If one will read the works of Mrs. Eddy he will find on every page and in almost every paragraph references to sin, sickness, and death, or to evil in some form. This teaching is not speculation or theory about the nature or origin of evil; it is the truth about it. It does not point out to one certain phases of error or evil practices, and tell him that he should avoid them or overcome them, and leave him there to grope in the dark; but it shows him what the error is, and why it is, and how it can be handled, overcome or destroyed.

Christian Science does not teach that sin, sickness, and death do not appear real to human sense, or to one uninstructed in spiritual reality. To such a one they seem very real, and he feels deeply the need of something that will calm the storm and make still the waves; and he finds it through the loving ministration of Christian Science. Christian Science does teach that evil in all its forms is unreal, in the sense that God is not its author. Christian Science teaches that God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," "with whom is no variableness;" that "all things were made by him;" that "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
