It is my desire at this time to express my gratitude...

It is my desire at this time to express my gratitude and appreciation for what Christian Science has done for me these past five years. When I turned at last to Christian Science, I was fast becoming unable to make my own way in the world; and this was necessary. I had suffered for years with a gnawing pain in my back, caused from spinal trouble, which was fast affecting the use of the limbs. Walking to any extent was a misery. Then came heart trouble; and I was told to resort to the use of digitalis (a so-called heart stimulant) ; however, I did not use this.

A state of discouragement and melancholy had overtaken me, as my surroundings were very discordant and everything but desirable. I turned from the East and came West. On my way I came in contact with a student of Christian Science. I was encouraged, given "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy to read, and a little light came. Truth began to unfold; and slowly the "old man" gave place to the "new." A year from then I was in a Christian Science practitioner's home. There I learned that my heart failure was due to lack of hope, lack of love.

The pain did not return after two treatments; and I grew stronger each day, until now I stand a living witness to the efficacy of Christian Science. Last year I was able to take many long and hard walks for many miles into the mountains, without suffering the least discomfiture. In fact, I live in the hills, and my walk to and fro twice each day from my work is indeed enjoyable. I am grateful to Mary Baker Eddy, and to those who have helped me along the way; and trust this true expression will help some one.
