Since Christian Science teaches that God, good, is infinite,...

Hackney and Stoke Newington Recorder

Since Christian Science teaches that God, good, is infinite, the answer to the question of the origin of evil must be left to those who do not believe in the infinitude of good. Christian Scientists know that to try to account for the origin of evil would be as useless as to try to account for the origin of the belief that two and two make five. The latter does not exist in mathematics, and the former does not exist in the infinitude of good. The critic's difficulty seems to lie in his strict adherence to a finite sense of being. Christian Science teaches that God is infinite Being or Mind, and that infinite Mind is expressed by infinite ideas. The spiritual universe, including spiritual man, is the expression of God's or infinite being. Most certainly Christian Science more than any other philosophy or religion draws a very clear distinction between God, Spirit, the only real and perfect Being and His infinite manifestation, and the false sense of being as expressed by materiality. Spiritual man lives, moves, and has his being in God, Spirit, or Mind, as the Scriptures declare.
