I did not think myself diseased when Christian Science...

I did not think myself diseased when Christian Science came to me through a loving friend, but I know now how very inharmonious I was morally and physically; and I am very thankful to Christian Science for all the good it has brought into my life. Errors of all kinds have come and are still coming to the surface to be destroyed; and I am continually becoming happier, as I grow in understanding and gain a sense of the spiritual creation. One of my greatest joys has been to understand that we have dominion over all error through the purification and correction of our mortal thoughts,—"by the renewing of your mind," as Paul says.

I am very thankful, also, to understand that the material and medical so-called laws, which condemn us and frighten us, are the result of repeated appearances presented to us by mortal mind; and that with the knowledge of the truth, through Christian Science, we can change these appearances and destroy the condemnation. I have witnessed this fact very often with a member of my family who, though slightly interested in Christian Science, always wants to see a doctor when she is ill. Three times the doctors condemned her: first, in an attack of arterio-sclerosis and of albuminosis; second, when she suffered with gallstones; third, when a tumor started in the breast. Each time Christian Science reversed the condemnation: the serious symptoms disappeared completely, and the patient was healed—much to the amazement of the doctors.

I myself have been healed of a sprain in the foot, and of two attacks of influenza, in a very short time. Some time ago, I was also healed almost instantaneously of a severe burn. I had spilled a pan of boiling water on my hand; and, although I had immediately denied the accident, the pain was so intense that I had to telephone to a practitioner for help. The help came very quickly: after two hours all pain had left. I shall never forget how very grateful and happy I felt the next morning, when, awaking out of a peaceful sleep, I looked at my hand fearing to find it swollen and useless, and found, instead, that it was normal and quite free. I could do all my ordinary housework as usual.
