Christian Science explains the Trinity intelligently, and gives the exact meaning that Jesus gave of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Our critic will acknowledge that like produces like, and since God is Spirit, His offspring must be spiritual. God's universe, as understood in Christian Science, is spiritual, and man made in God's image and likeness is spiritual. Jesus taught that the material sense of things was not the real sense. He also taught that "the flesh profiteth nothing;" and John brought out this teaching when he said: "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever." When Christian Scientists say sin, disease, and death are unreal, they mean that they do not proceed from God, that they were never created by God, and therefore belong to the realm of temporal falsities: they are not real in the eternal sense. They seem to be very real to the physical senses, which are only the senses of the carnal mind; but by the realization of that which is eternally real these temporal conditions can be removed. We are commanded to overcome evil with good, indicating that such victory is possible.

Christian Science is Christian because it adheres to and proves the sayings of our Master in every particular. It is scientific because it is demonstrable. Our critic asserts that the church has for centuries neglected the doctrine of healing. This is tantamount to saying that the church has been in darkness for centuries, as our Master declared that healing was the one proof by which his followers should be known. Christian Science is responsible for awakening Christendom to this great fact, and the many signs throughout the world that the so-called Christian churches are desirous of having a ministry of healing is the outcome. Christian Science appeals to all classes of humanity, both rich and poor, for Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 13), "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals."
