It is with a heart filled with joy that I testify to a most...
It is with a heart filled with joy that I testify to a most beautiful healing in Christian Science. Previous to my healing I had been sick for so long, and tried so many different medicines and climates, that I hardly dared to hope for perfect health. I had just returned from the sanitarium, where the physician, after making blood tests, warned me of the old tubercular condition, with many other physical ills pronounced incurable, saying he could do no more for me and advising an immediate change of climate.
We sold our home, and I was preparing to make this change. I had not been able to eat anything for weeks. A friend of mine seeing my condition repeatedly told me of the wonderful healing power of Christian Science. It seemed so ridiculous to me; but, finally, one afternoon, in rather a hopeless mood and just to make fun of Christian Science, I called up a practitioner. Not expecting to be benefited, much less healed, I did not tell the practitioner of any trouble, only saying I had not been able to eat anything for some time. It all seemed so absurd I immediately forgot about it. That night I ate the heartiest meal I had eaten in years. I never thought or feared that certain of the foods would disagree with me, as I always had. My husband repeatedly expressed fear at the meal I was eating, and could not understand it. I only knew that I was hungry, as I had not been for so long. After dinner we took a ride, and during our conversation of how perfectly well I felt, I burst forth with the remark that I had asked a Christian Science practitioner for help—and did he suppose that was what made me feel so wonderful? I did not take any medicine that night, for the first time in fifteen years. I called at the practitioner's office the next morning, and it was revealed to me clearly that the call for help I had made in fun instantly returned to me a perfect healing. Every disease left me at that moment; and I have been in perfect health ever since.
I am deeply grateful to God for this truth, which always heals. I am grateful to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the discovery of this truth and for showing us how to apply it as taught in Christian Science. I am grateful to the loving and obedient practitioner, and grateful for the suggestion from the friend who told me of this truth.
