Among the innumerable blessings that Christian Science has brought to me, I would like particularly to mention an experience I had last year. My neighbor had recently had a dog given to her which she always kept chained. In his former home he had not been used to a chain, and the use of it seemed to make him vicious. He took an intense dislike to me; partly, I think, because I used to enter the garden through a gap in the hedge. One day when I was leaving my neighbor's house, the dog meanwhile barking furiously at me, he broke his chain and rushed at me, biting me repeatedly about my ankles and above my knee, and making many attempts to reach my throat, though only succeeding in tearing my sleeve just below the shoulder. This continued until some one fetched my neighbor, who after some difficulty managed to get her dog away from me.

I went indoors and washed the wounds, applying the truth I had learned in Christian Science to the best of my understanding. I am deeply grateful for the instant operation of Truth to dispel all fear and pain. In about fifteen minutes I was busy with household duties. I had no further trouble until I went to bed and saw the effects of the morning's encounter. I had no idea until then that I had been so badly bruised. For a moment fear crept in, and I showed my husband the cause of it. He advised that I should ask for help if I did not overcome the condition quickly myself. My gratitude for help received in the past made me greatly desire to make my own knowledge of the truth practical; and, so, instead of going to bed I made an effort to realize more of the truth about God and man. After that I slept well and had no more trouble. I found that I had learned much from this experience. I felt no resentment whatever towards the dog, whose dislike of me I knew was founded on a falsity.

I am grateful beyond words for the difference in my life and home since commencing the study of Christian Science. For over fourteen years Christian Science has been our only physician. My gratitude goes out to all who have helped me along the way, and to Mrs. Eddy, who made this help possible.
