I would very much like to express my thanks through...
I would very much like to express my thanks through the Journal or Sentinel for the priceless gift Mrs. Eddy left to all mankind in her works on Christian Science; and at the same time I would like to offer, as testimony of its practicability, one of the many healings I have experienced in Christian Science.
A year ago last summer I was spending a short vacation at a near-by lake with my wife. We had been on an outing to an island about two miles from our hotel with several other couples in canoes. When it came time to return we decided to race back to the pier at our hotel. There was quite a stiff wind blowing against us, and the race was rather close; so I exerted myself to the utmost in an endeavor to win. After we reached the pier and had pulled in our canoe, I felt severe pains. I made my way to our room, and by the time I reached it I was in agony. I found that I had ruptured myself severely. I suffered agonizing pains and cramps, and while I tried to do my mental work I seemed unable to cope with the error. After about two hours of suffering I had my wife telephone a Christian Science practitioner in New York, about fifty miles distant, for treatment. She told the practitioner very briefly what the trouble was, and returned and read to me selections from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Within a half hour at the utmost, I fell asleep, and slept soundly until the next morning, when I awoke to find myself perfectly healed, and able to swim and go about as well as ever. I did not use any medicine or material appliance whatsoever, but relied entirely on Christian Science. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for this beautiful healing.
Surely this experience and the many other healings that are daily occurrences in Christian Science disprove the statements that Christian Science overlooks error; and they demonstrate conclusively the fact that Christian Science is waging a constant battle for the destruction of error. Our Wednesday evening meetings furnish abundant proof of the wonderful works that are being accomplished in Christian Science. I always receive a great deal to be thankful for at these meetings.
