I am very grateful to God, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her discovery of Christian Science. Only as one grows in understanding can one realize, even in a very small way, her sacrifice, toil, and love, that she might give to her fellow-man, asleep in deep materialism, the truth that the greatest Teacher the world has ever known, Jesus the Christ, taught and demonstrated in his ministry on earth.

I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but for a peace I had failed to gain from the teaching of my adopted church. When my ordered copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy arrived, and I sat down to read it, I became very much afraid; but I prayed, and asked God if it was the truth that I might find it, and if not that I would be forgiven. I read and read, and I knew I had found the truth about God and man. I kept reading for many months, and slowly the light came. If I failed in any demonstration I knew it was my application of Science that was at fault, and not Christian Science.

During the influenza epidemic of 1919 I manifested those symptoms, but they were quickly overcome by the loving help and work of a practitioner; and I was not in bed a day. The so-called after effects also were prevented. Through the same practitioner's loving work I was healed when on the verge of a nervous breakdown, with accompaniments of insomnia and rapid heart action. My little daughter has had many beautiful healings of attacks of fever, some with help and some by our own understanding. She has passed, untouched, through many contagious diseases prevalent at times in our town. Through Christian Science I was able to heal a very badly wrenched ankle. After a few minutes' mental work I was able to walk. The swelling and discoloration disappeared in about a week. Another time I fell on the ice, with full force, striking on my spine; but only that night was there any pain. The next day I walked twelve blocks.
