When quite a young girl I became acquainted with the first Christian Scientist I had ever met. Visiting at her home frequently I was quite impressed with the deep interest with which she viewed her religion. She spoke frequently of her healing in Christian Science. When I was told that God was Mind it seemed to me that it was the most reasonable statement about God I had ever heard. Though at that time I did not feel I needed religion, a few years later I did feel that need and I found that I had really never lost my inclination toward Christian Science, and finally decided to buy "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and study it for myself. I read the book for hours each day, rejoicing that God was so clearly revealed here. After studying Christian Science for a while, its healing power was indeed proved to me. Headaches vanished, sore throat was overcome. I was an incessant novel reader, but the desire for this sort of amusement left me entirely.
Later a severe breakdown manifested itself, and this indeed seemed a hard testing time, as for about three weeks I was unable to sleep. With the aid of a practitioner this trouble was entirely overcome in a short time. Christian Science meets every need in our home and I am indeed most grateful for it and for all the activities provided by our Leader—for church membership, for our periodicals, and the privilege of class instruction. Many times our periodicals have come like a ray of light dispelling the cloud of material sense.—(Mrs.) Blanche F. Evans, Sacramento, Calif.
