Is This the Truth

Is this the truth? That God is Love—
Not like to love; not nearly love;
But really, wholly, always Love—
The very Principle thereof?

Is this the truth? That perfect Love
Can fill the heart and so o'erflow
That with its tide all fear doth move—
And with it death, disease, and woe?

Then come, Thou God of love, to me,
And let me in Thee live and move;
Be Thou my guide: I'll follow Thee
In all Thy paths, thou God of love.
