In grateful acknowledgment of many blessings received...
In grateful acknowledgment of many blessings received in Christian Science the writer gladly sends her testimony in the hope that it may help some needy one. It is some years now since I first heard of Christian Science, through a dear friend who at that time was living with me. I had to mortal sense just gone through an attack of sciatica, and it was prophesied that I would never be quite free from it. My friend told me of her new-found joy the Christ, Truth. At first like others, I thought it all too good to be true, but still I had just enough faith to put it to the test. A few mornings after our talk I found myself getting out of bed perfectly free, and have never had any return of the trouble.
Some time after this an attack of pneumonia was overcome in three days and I was able to get up and attend to my business. This was in midwinter. I have laid glasses aside after wearing them for twenty-five years. Constipation of three years' standing was overcome. Many minor troubles, such as burns, bruises, cuts, and a lacerated wrist have all been healed in the same way. In March of this year I was preparing a meal, when I rushed out to see an aeroplane pass over. On returning to the house, a large dark patch seemed to get in front of me wherever I moved. I wrote to the same friend who had helped me before and she took up treatment at once. This error was overcome after a few months. It was a great joy when I found it disappearing into its native nothingness. It will be better understood why my joy over this healing was so great when I explain that I had only one eye, the other having been removed under medical treatment two years before I heard of Christian Science. During all the time I was having treatment for this trouble I was able to attend to all my household duties as usual. Now I can read and sew, doing the finest work without any fear.
I am most grateful to God and to Mrs. Eddy for the glorious truth revealed to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," her gift to humanity, also for the loving help of my friend in my time of need, and for the knowledge revealed to me in the study of Christian Science that divine Love does indeed meet our every need.—(Miss) Lilley Norris, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffs, England.
