About four years ago, after many years of seeking and...
About four years ago, after many years of seeking and searching for something higher and more worthy than life seemed to offer, I was gradually led naturally and beautifully into Christian Science. Its teaching answered all my questions concerning man and his relation to God and immediately satisfied the desire for something reasonable and logical, a truth that was tangible. It furnished not only a practical religion but one which commanded great respect. The blessings which the study of this Science brings began almost at once. Before the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was half read a seemingly tenacious habit of smoking, of probably twenty years' duration, and the indulgence of a so-called moderate desire for liquor entirely left me. This was most gratifying, because at times these habits had troubled me greatly. Later on I was healed of an annual attack of illness, which had been a source of annoyance for a long time.
Shortly after endeavoring to convince a fellow employee who had shown some interest in Christian Science and who was suffering much from a fistula, that Christian Science would heal him, I became afflicted with what I believed to be the same difficulty in an aggravated form. My only physician was God, "who healeth all thy diseases," and the manifestation was entirely and quickly overcome. Many other demonstrations of the healing efficacy of Christian Science have been experienced or have come under my observation. In our home life the power of divine Mind is constantly proved, and we are trying to become more obedient to Principle as the truth unfolds.
The peace of mind and the harmony that have come to us in our business and home life through trying to live in accordance with Principle, cause us to be deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has truly emancipated mankind from the bondage of materiality and its concomitants, sin, sickness, and death, through her discovery of the real or spiritual meaning of the Scriptures.—Clarence Brooks, Erie, Pa.
