I want again to express my gratitude through the columns...

I want again to express my gratitude through the columns of our beloved periodicals for the joy and the abundance of good things which have come into my life through the study of Christian Science. During the twenty-three years I have been striving to be a Christian Scientist, I have seen many wonderful proofs of healing. Nervous prostration, typhoid, fever, smallpox, blood poisoning, and minor ailments have been met and mastered by the power of Truth over error. At the time this great light first dawned on my thought, I was seemingly drifting out under materia medica; but when the word of God was spoken by a loving practitioner there was instantaneous healing. The darkness and torture of hell were replaced by the bliss and peace of heaven,—a peace which surely "passeth all understanding."

Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 224), "We should go forth into life with the smallest expectations, but with the largest patience; with a keen relish for and appreciation of everything beautiful, great, and good, but with a temper so genial that the friction of the world shall not wear upon our sensibilities." Unwittingly this kindly wisdom was neglected, and I started my long journey with the largest expectations and the smallest amount of patience. This has caused many stumbles and impeded my progress, but as thought becomes more receptive to the truth, the way grows more beautiful and the vision plainer, so that "the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein."
