It has been my pleasure to have doubly proved the efficacy...
It has been my pleasure to have doubly proved the efficacy of Christian Science in the healing of an organic disease. On the fifteenth of August, 1916, after a very exhaustive medical examination, I was declared to have what is commonly termed quick consumption. This diagnosis was afterwards confirmed by two chemical analyses and corroborated by the doctor employed by the company for which I work. It was impossible to remain at my business, so I went to visit relatives in Massachusetts in order to get away from influences that were antagonistic to Christian Science. Treatment was given me, and I began to take on weight the first week. I returned to the city just before the Christmas holidays, and on the first of the new year reported back to work. The second week in January I underwent another very exhaustive examination by the company's doctor and was given a perfectly clean bill of health. For the first six months of the year it was necessary for our entire force to work overtime, and I did so for at least five of those months, working from nine in the morning to nine forty-five at night, leaning over a set of books in a large and crowded office where very little fresh air was ever allowed to penetrate. Surely this experience should be conclusive to the most skeptical that healing wrought through the power of God is permanent and not subject to relapse or climatic conditions.
I give thanks to God every day of my life that when my great need came I had sufficient faith in Christian Science to stake my life on its truth, so that to-day I am not held down to any limitation of locality or climate as prescribed by materia medica; and I say unhesitatingly that no one can make a mistake by casting his net on the right side for Christian Science.—Frank W. Stoddard, New York, N. Y.
