I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science. About two years ago I was at a hospital five months and a half without getting any relief from what the doctors called Bright's disease. Christian Science had been brought to my notice before I went there, but I did not think I could get along without medicine; however, as I was getting worse instead of better and was told that I never would get well, I decided to try Christian Science. The doctor at first would not hear of my being moved on account of the condition of my heart, but finally he consented, although he said he would not be responsible for the consequences. I had, however, received a great deal of encouragement from reading Christian Science literature while at the hospital and knew I would have strength enough to make the change, although I was not able to stand on my feet or to walk. I had to be carried to and from the carriage in which I rode to my sister's home. Next morning I commenced reading Science and Health and received absent treatment, with the result that a stomach and bowel disorder, heart trouble, blurred eyesight, and fear of eating certain kinds of food were overcome in a short time. The dropsical condition did not yield as readily, but it was overcome in about three months and a half. A short time afterwards I was able to attend school, and I have since been working.
A number of months after the healing the doctor who treated me at the hospital declared my heart to be normal, and stated that he never thought it would be so again. I had been told there was no hope for me and that I would perhaps live for a month or a little longer, but to-day I am in perfect health. For all these blessings I am most thankful to God, and I am also grateful to Mrs. Eddy for giving us this wonderful truth.
