My first healing in Christian Science was instantaneous, due to reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and one treatment from a practitioner. After a very severe attack of influenza, while suffering from a nervous collapse, I sought relief in a sanitarium. After six weeks of expensive treatment I was told I would have to remain there for six months and stay out of business at least two years. I however went to Chicago to visit a friend, and there met a lady who was having Christian Science treatment for a similar trouble. She invited me to go with her to see the practitioner, and I did so that day. In one treatment I was lifted out of despondency and despair, and as a result of this and the reading of the textbook, which my sister, confident of its healing effects, had traveled a hundred miles to give me, I was enabled to return to business, which became very prosperous, owing to better mental conditions.

Demonstrations more wonderful and of greater interest have been made since this first one, nearly twenty years ago, but none have been more appreciated. I am deeply grateful for our literature and the Lesson-Sermons and for all the Christian Science activities.
