Little did I think when first I read the opening words of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy that the book contained the seed which was to blossom into such a goodly growth, continually bringing forth health giving fruit and spreading the leaves of Truth and Love all around. When Christian Science found me I was condemned by the medical fraternity, under the ban of what they called nervous prostration, to a very lengthy period of inactivity; and one specialist told me some time afterwards that it was his opinion then that I would never again be strong enough to take part in the active struggle of commercial life.

I was a great sufferer from rheumatism, sciatica, and kindred ailments, and was troubled periodically by bilious attacks. From all of these I have been entirely freed through Christian Science. I was a slave to the smoking habit and used to smoke forty or fifty cigarettes a day. Freedom from this habit I look upon as the greatest and most helpful healing which has come to me. Out of thankfulness for the other break blessings that came one after another, I tried to break myself of this pernicious habit by the use of will power, which resulted in most grievous failure, but shortly afterwards the habit entirely left without any effort on my part, and the liking for stimulating drink went with it. I have not taken any kind of drug, alcoholic liquor, or used any form of tobacco since July, 1911; neither have I had the slightest desire to do so. I am strong, healthy, and happy in the business which has also come to me through the right application of the truth; but greater than all these is the spiritual understanding that is coming to me more and more clearly as day follows day.

I thank God, and my heart goes out in gratitude to Mrs. Eddy and all those who have so greatly and lovingly helped me to the knowledge which has brought all the blessings that have come to me directly through Christian Science.
