A Just Peace

AGNES CHALMERS

The land our father Abraham hath sought,Each nation equally shall give and share.Each nation shall go forth, and wisely taughtOf God find Mind's true country everywhere.Earth's league of nations, too, shall see that naughtSave God's just law shall rule the mighty wave;The sea shall be protected with the careOf Mind's sustaining love to bless and save.

Truth, monarch of the earth, shall own full swayOf government. Each debt shall then be paid,Since all shall have abundant love to pay.Each nation shall be recompensed with mightOf meekness hid with Christ. Life's table laidWith wondrous feast is ready,—yea, the rightOf sharing with all men the wine and breadOf peace. Truth's table now is spread.
