It is with a sense of deep gratitude for Christian Science...

It is with a sense of deep gratitude for Christian Science that I write this testimony. I am grateful for having had the privilege of serving in the United States Army during the past struggle and for the privilege of serving in the trenches. On the second night after going into the trenches we had a gas attack. I was a gas guard that night, and although I had my mask off a great deal of the time in order to determine when the gas was gone, I did not feel any ill effects. I was carried safely through battles, raids, and patrols by realizing that God is Love and that He is All-in-all. On many occasions of seemingly great danger the ninety-first psalm would come to me and by the time I had repeated it the danger would be over. Through Christian Science my wife and I were able to overcome the sense of separation while I was away from home.

What I am most grateful for is that I have learned to go straight to God with all my seeming troubles. Before entering the service I would run to a practitioner for help when any little discord came up. While in the trenches I could not do this, but I soon learned that when I earnestly declared and realized the truth error was overcome. I am most thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science.
