In an article entitled "Talks on Health" appearing in a recent issue, the writer shows an absolute ignorance of what Christian Science is. In one sentence he confuses it with "faith cures," in another with will power; and later he implies that Christian Scientists regard all disease as imagination. In their denominational textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it is stated on page 460, "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient." It is this "false sense" that Christian Science corrects by teaching, as the Bible does, that "the old man with his deeds" must be put off and "the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him," must be put on. Christian Science reiterates the Scriptural declaration that man is made in God's own image and likeness and reflects all good, health included. It is the teaching and healing of Jesus made practical in this age, in obedience to the injunction, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." To the fact that Christian Science does heal all manner of diseases, whether termed functional or organic, thousands of men and women all over the world are bearing grateful testimony.
