At a very early period in my life I joined a church; but...

At a very early period in my life I joined a church; but finding little comfort in its doctrines and many flaws in its teachings, I finally became agnostic. Right and wrong seemed to be mere matters of opinion, and I became hopelessly mixed in trying to reason out a philosophy whereby to live. During the same period I was rapidly learning that material means of healing were of no avail in curing me of the numerous ills that kept me a semi-invalid. After one last series of treatments from an eminent nerve specialist, followed by a change of climate, with no beneficial result, I went to a Christian Science practitioner for help. I shall never forget the joy that came to me that day as I grasped somewhat the idea of the power of good and the nothingness of evil. The first line in the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, kept fairly singing through my thoughts: "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." And so it proved; for throughout more than twenty years this great truth has never failed me. At one time, when I seemed to be at death's door, it restored me to perfect health inside of five hours.

I have seen some marvelous healings effected by Christian Science in my own and other families; but I believe the greatest miracle to my sense is the never ending operation of divine Love when put into practice in our commonplce, everyday affairs. It positively has no confines, but reaches to the remotest borders, blessing all who come under its beneficent touch.
