That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was proved...

That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was proved in the event of my taking up the study of Christian Science. The "grim reaper" had taken my dear companion, leaving me heartbroken and alone to provide for two little ones and myself. We had been ardent workers in a so-called orthodox church, but when I was told that God was the author of my bereavement and that I should bow in submission to divine decree, I at once became rebellious. I became a doubter, and all interest in the church vanished; I could not praise God, who, I was told, had brought this suffering into my life.

About two years later my attention was called to Christian Science; and tempest tossed and longing for something besides the human upon which to lean, I began the study of this life-giving truth. Here I learned that God had no part in mortal suffering; that His decree is life and health, peace and prosperity. Disease in many forms has been laid low by the application of this truth which makes men free. A structural defect of the eyes, scarlet fever, measles, colds, tonsillitis, and influenza have been overcome, also lack, unrest, resentfulness, a critical nature, and a fiery temper have been seen to vanish in the sunlight of God's love as taught by Mrs. Eddy in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Christian Science has been my physician for over eight years, and to-day I know that my life has been richer, more harmonious, less selfish, and more useful than it could have been without some understanding of this teaching. Praise and glory are due to God for giving unto us Mrs. Eddy, whose unswerving, prayerful efforts reinstated the healing religion as taught by Jesus the Christ.
