[Northwestern Christian Advocate]

That the war is modifying our beliefs cannot be disputed. Where we are bound would be hard to determine now. There is no Pisgah's height from which to view the promised land. We must feel our way day by day o'er moor and fen, o'er crag and torrent, till the night is done. But in this we may be confident: out of the fire of war will come a purified nation, and with this process of cleansing will come a purged church.
