My heart goes out in deepest gratitude for the many blessings received through the application and study of Christian Science. For many years I was almost constantly under the care of a physician. Material methods of all kinds failed, and many symptoms were aggravated. When Christian Science was presented to me I reached out for it as the last resort, and my efforts to find help through its teachings have brought blessings innumerable.

When I was a small child a firecracker destroyed the sight of my right eye. A few years afterward, when I was fitted with glasses, the oculist said that the accident having occurred when I was a child the development of the nerves had ceased in my right eye and the left one was affected, causing a structural defect and headaches, for which the glasses were worn. He said that nothing could be done for the right eye. The headaches and eye trouble continued and became worse after wearing glasses for several years, but I had read only a few chapters of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, when this condition was instantaneously overcome and the glasses were discarded. The sight of the right eye was gradually restored, and I have had normal sight for over eight years. Besides this, a discordant home has been changed to one of love and harmony through the study of Christian Science. In our family, headaches of several years' standing have been overcome, and so-called chronic stomach disorder, a severe case of erysipelas, colds, and many other ailments have yielded to the power of Truth.

Over five years ago my mother fell fourteen feet into a stone driveway when a porch rail gave way. Both hands were broken, concussion of the brain resulted, and there was a cut on the right leg from a rusty nail. A physician was called to set the bones, and he said it was impossible for her to recover. A Christian Science practitioner was then called, and the intense pain left with the first treatment. In four days my mother was up. The physician did not apply any material remedies, and when he redressed the hands a week later expressed great surprise that there was no inflammation. He later said the use of the right hand would never be regained, but I rejoice to say that my mother can do everything required in a household and is enjoying the best of health. Mrs. Eddy says, "Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger" (Science and Health, p. 410). The spiritual growth which came with this healing made possible six months later a case of mental surgery, when the left hand was again broken, but was healed through the power of Truth. Several weeks after this while my mother was calling on the physician on business, he asked to examine the hands, and on doing so said that the left hand was perfectly knit together.
