I am very grateful for all the benefits we have received...
I am very grateful for all the benefits we have received from the study of Christian Science. I turned to this religion when in great need, after all else had failed to give me strength and health. Most of that last year I had spent in bed, suffering from a complication of diseases caused by childbirth. During that time I underwent a serious surgical operation, the second I had undergone, but did not get much relief. I had anaemia quite badly, and my eyes had caused lots of suffering. Even with strong glasses I could read only a few lines at a time. Having gained very little during the six months following the operation, I began to study Science and Health very earnestly, thinking it was my only help. As I read, peace came to me, and all the discords vanished within two weeks. Then I took off my glasses, which two specialists had said I could never do without, and I have never had any need of them since. I am stronger and happier than ever before.
The birth of our last child, two years ago, was an occasion of joy and thanksgiving. I was up nearly all the third day and from the fourth day took all the care of him. He is a strong and happy child. When he was just learning to walk he fell, striking his head just above the temple and making a deep gash. I sent word to his father, who is also studying Christian Science, and in five minutes the baby was playing the same as usual. Although the wound bled for quite a while, he never in any way acted as though it pained him, and in a week it was entirely healed.
Burns have also been overcome quickly. The baby once burned the back of his hand, but I declared the truth for him and he stopped crying almost immediately. My five-year-old daughter let some boiling water go all over one hand. I declared that no accident could happen to God's child and also read to her, with the result that in a short time she was playing as usual with no mark on her hand at all. Words cannot express my thankfulness to God for the many demonstrations we have had, and I am very grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who so lovingly has shown us the way.
