About six years ago I found myself with a skin disease which appeared on my hands and was very annoying. My home physician, after prescribing for it a little while, advised me to consult a specialist. I did so, and my hands were then treated under electric light rays, as the doctor stated that the tissues of the skin would not mend otherwise. Off and on for two years and a half these treatments were taken up. To my inquiry as to how long I would be in that condition I received the answer that there was no way of telling. From time to time the skin would come together, but it would soon be all open again.

Through friends I had visited one of the Christian Science churches, and in the spring of 1913 I bought my wife a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I liked the services very much, but, although I had heard from people who had been healed, I could not see where this would apply to my case. My wife, however, asked me if I would not like to read the book I had given her, and during the fall of that year I commenced reading it. As my hands were bandaged, I would read in bed every evening. Then one evening I took the bandages off and discarded all the medicines, being satisfied that I could be healed through Christian Science. My joy on realizing this truth could not be expressed; I gave thanks to God for this wonderful blessing, and in a very short time my hands were healed. I have been greatly benefited by the overcoming of this condition and of other errors through the power of God, and will never be able sufficiently to express in words my gratitude to Jesus the Wayshower and to Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

I am now building on the rock of spiritual understanding through the study of Science and Health, and am striving daily to follow the example of the Master. My desire is to prove my gratitude to our Leader for the uplifting thoughts her writings have brought me by giving this healing message to others so that may reap the benefit of the truth that makes free.
