At the solicitation of my sister I first visited a Christian Science church in July, 1914, and during the service it seemed to me as though I became conscious of the presence of divine Love, this feeling being manifest during the silent prayer, in which I took part. When I heard testimonies given by those who had been healed through the power of Truth I began to believe there was salvation and healing for me also. As a result of my study and practice of Christian Science, despondency was replaced with hope and ambition, soon followed by healing and benefit to me in my everyday life and business—all of which came in response to prayer and thanksgiving.
When twelve years of age, while at school one day, I was stricken with blindness, but at the end of four days the sight of the right eye returned, at times weak and at times strong. The left eye remained blind until eighteen months ago, when I began to see what was going on at the left side of me. I can now read my watch with ease by closing the other eye. The right eye is perfectly strong also. It is marvelous to be the recipient of such a bounty, Christ-given. In 1909 I had two opticians of this city examine my eyes with a view to having glasses made to preserve what sight there was. One of them told me there was no hope and advised me to go on as I was; the other said he might produce sight gradually by a system of lenses changed from time to time. With that hope I had the glasses made, but I had no result from them and gave up in despair. At a recent examination for the engineers' corps my vision was placed on record as follows: vision of right eye 20-20, or normal; left eye 20-40, or sight enough to pass. I am not wearing glasses and have proved that I do not need them.
I can gratefully say it was through the instrumentality of Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science that this demonstration was made. With my peace of mind restored I can live for the honor and glory of God and of Christian Science.—R. H. Fallmer, Oakland, Cal.
