With a heart full of love and gratitude for all that Christian Science...
With a heart full of love and gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me and mine, I send this testimony, hoping it will help some weary seeker after Truth. I did not come to it for physical healing, as at that time—eight years ago—my health was all that could be desired, but I was led to study it through my husband's healing of what was called tuberculosis. When all material means had failed, and he had been given up by the physicians, he reluctantly turned to Christian Science as a last resort. After one week's treatment he began to improve, and in about three months was healed. To me this was a wonderful healing. Several years later he was healed of deep sorrow. One Sunday morning as he was about to step to the desk to read the Sunday service in our church, a dear member of the family passed on, and it was at this time that the announcement came to him, when a substitute reader could not be called. He knew that the problem had to be worked out then and there, and through the understanding of the Bible and of Science and Health the demonstration was made.
We had been interested in the study of Christian Science for about two years when I was suddenly attacked with bladder trouble. The suffering was intense, and although I asked my husband to help me, the attacks came oftener and were increasingly severe, until one day when a member of the family said that gallstones might be the trouble. When this was uncovered the healing was instantaneous. Only once did the ailment manifest itself again, and that was several years later, when it was soon overcome. Our little girl was quickly healed of whooping cough and measles, and has never missed a day of school on account of illness, although nearly seventeen years of age. Every problem that comes up is worked out through the understanding and application of the truth.
My husband and I have both had class instruction, and for this wonderful privilege I shall never cease to be grateful. My heart overflows with gratitude that there was found in Mrs. Eddy one pure enough and unselfish enough to bring this healing truth to a waiting world. I hope so to live that my deeds will express my gratitude—words cannot do so.—Mrs. Martha C. Wurz, Los Gatos, Cal.
