To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is...
"To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" is the opening sentence of the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. It is out of gratitude, and in the hope of helping somebody, that I testify to my experience of the truth of the above assertion.
In the year 1906 Christian Science was first brought into our home. About two months later I suffered from an attack of ulceration of the stomach. I had been subject to these attacks for over ten years and had been told never to be without certain drugs, but within three days, without the use of material remedies, simply through reading the Christian Science textbook and trying to apply what I read, the trouble was completely overcome, and I had been able to carry on my ordinary occupation during the whole time it lasted. With the attack previous to this I was laid up for three weeks in spite of every kindness and medical attention. Through the help of a practitioner I was healed of a broken collar bone within ten days of the accident, and of a broken nose almost instantaneously. Colds, rheumatism, and influenza have also been overcome.
For these and for many other demonstrations of the power of divine Truth to heal, which I and my family have experienced, and for the whole change in my outlook on life, my thoughts go out in loving gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, through whose courage and love the teaching of Christian Science was given to humanity for the salvation of the world.
