In deep thankfulness to God and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy I give this testimony to the many benefits received from Christian Science, in the hope that others may be guided to find this great truth. It is now six years since this teaching was brought to me. I had been practically an invalid for many years, suffering from many complaints, the worst of which seemed to be heart trouble. After an attack of malarial fever the doctor said the disease had affected the heart and that he could do no more for me. Then a kind friend suggested that I try Christian Science and lent me some Sentinels, which I read with pleasure and hope, the testimonies convincing me of the truth contained in Christian Science, and that the healing works done by Christ Jesus are still possible to-day.

I procured the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and read it eagerly. During the first reading several ailments disappeared, among them being stomach trouble from which I had suffered much and long, and I became happier, life taking on a brighter outlook. After reading this wonderful book for a week or so I applied to a practitioner in Johannesburg for help, had a fortnight's absent treatment, and began at once to feel an improvement. The doctor, when recommending a change, had said I must not on any account go to Johannesburg as the high veldt would do me harm, but after the fortnight's treatment in Christian Science I visited some friends there, staying a month and gaining in health every day. This fortnight's treatment did more good for me than all the medicines taken for years before. I then took up the regular study of Christian Science, reading little but its literature and the Lesson-Sermon. The heart attacks became fewer and farther between, until they disappeared altogether. I was quite healed and a well woman in three months, being able to help myself, which we learn to do from the study of Science and Health.

Since then I have had many proofs of the healing power of Truth and have often overcome some physical trouble myself by persistently declaring the truth as we are taught to do in Mrs. Eddy's writings. During those six years I have taken no medicine of any sort, but have depended on Truth alone. Three and a half years ago I sprained my ankle badly by falling with a rickety chair while getting books from a high cupboard, and again since then, but both times Truth was the healer; the second time there was not even a bruise. The first time I walked without inconvenience three days afterward; in fact, I was not laid up at all, but was able to continue my household duties as usual by steadfastly declaring the truth.
