I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I became interested in this teaching through my daughter's instantaneous healing of ptomaine poisoning, acute stomach trouble, and extreme nervousness. The physicians had done all they knew how to do, and as a last resort blistered her back to remove the poison, but this also failed. My wife and I feared the worst, but at this extreme moment Christian Science was presented to us. Our daughter did not want anything to do with it, having been prejudiced by the wrong statements of others, but after several days of extreme suffering she asked to try it, and was healed. She also laid off glasses which had been worn for ten years. That was several years ago.
As for myself, I was healed of influenza in twelve hours, whereas before, I would suffer once or twice each winter from two to eight weeks with it. Stomach trouble and nervousness have also been overcome. The tobacco and drink habits of long standing went in two treatments. While chopping kindling a piece of wood struck me in the eye, cutting the pupil. The bleeding and severe pain caused a great deal of fear, but my wife telephoned to a practitioner for help and the pain left immediately. By the next morning there was no trace of the accident. Glasses have been laid aside after wearing them for seven years.
I am truly grateful for these physical healings, but they are not to be compared with the moral healing and spiritual uplift which comes with a right concept of God, and of man in His image and likeness. I have read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy twelve times from cover to cover, each day awakening to some truth taught therein. In Proverbs we read, "With all thy getting get understanding," and it surely is worth striving for, because of the health, peace, and happiness it brings. Last year my wife and I had the privilege of class instruction, which has enabled us to do most of our own Science work and to help others.
