I have been a student of Christian Science nearly four years, and although I have not made the progress or had the marvelous results expressed by many others, and feel that I lack much of having come to the full requirements of a true Christian Scientist, yet I have been marvelously blessed, physically, morally, socially, and in the business affairs of daily life.
When Christian Science first came to me I felt myself one of the most wretched of men, being in the midst of several years of business failures, separated from home ties and friends by seemingly hopeless discord and with no ray of hopeful outlook ahead. I was broken in health and courage, with but little faith left in the goodness of God or man. Life seemed so hopeless that I longed for the end of it all.
Under these conditions I first had Christian Science brought to my attention in a way to create some interest in the study of it. One of the good friends who had kept me supplied with Christian Science literature persuaded me to attend a Sunday service, and soon afterward I went to a Wednesday evening meeting. Then I began to study more earnestly, and before long became a regular attendant at all the services. My thoughts were gradually led into new channels, the world and daily life began to look brighter, business improved, and new friends came into my life. I began to feel a new faith in and a warmer feeling of loving nearness to my creator. With these spiritual and material advancements my health greatly improved. I had constantly resorted to medical treatment for various physical ills, but soon relied wholly on the healing power of Truth.
