Washington.—The outstanding feature of the year's work was the session of the state legislature, lasting from Jan. 8 to March 8, 1917. The cordial reception given our literature by members of that body, and the advanced stand taken by it in maintaining the religious liberties of the people, unimpaired by medical encroachments, are noted. During the year there was an average number of articles in newspapers requiring correction. There has been a definite lessening of active hostility to Christian Science in these published references to it, many of them being intended to be somewhat friendly, and being chiefly erroneous in that they confuse Christian Science with other teachings that have little if anything in common with it. The newspapers published thirty articles written by this committee during the year as a means of correcting such misstatements.
