Our critic's apparent disagreement with Mrs. Eddy's statements to the effect that the great Master and his immediate followers practised Christian Science, and his statement that "her theories were far fetched and did not at all interpret what was said in the Bible," could be nothing more than mere opinion. Christian Scientists accord to him the full right to his own opinion, of course, but they understanding it is not justified by facts.

Since Christian Science is based directly on the teachings of Christ Jesus as recorded in the Bible, it naturally follows that Christian Science is not new, and that it has full Scriptural authority. Jesus gave to the world the unqualified test by which a true follower can be determined, when he said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." According to the last chapter of Mark, the Master commanded his followers to preach the gospel, and stated clearly that the healing of the sick should be one of the signs following the preaching of the true gospel.

Christian Science calls the attention of all fair-minded people to the fact that it has healed all manner of disease, it has relieved all manner of suffering, and it is making the world better; while its critics, who go to such lengths in an attempt to detract from it, do not even try to perform the works that the great Master said should "follow them that believe." The logical conclusion, according to the test given by Jesus, is that Christian Science teaching and practice must be the same as that of our great Wayshower.
