Christian Science came to me at a time when material...
Christian Science came to me at a time when material means had failed to cure me and when the doctor declared that I was beyond the help of medicine. He pronounced the trouble tubercular disease in a most severe form, and told my parents to let me have whatever I wished, as I could not live more than six months.
It was then that I began to study Christian Science. My healing was slow, for I was in bed four and a half years; but now that the battle has been fought and the victory won I can see the wisdom of sticking to the truth, instead of going back to material remedies as I was tempted to do many times. I am now entirely free from this trouble, and one leg, which was almost two inches shorter than the other owing to this disease, has been restored to its normal length through the activities of Truth. The hip was deformed, and the doctor had said that should I ever get up again I would be a cripple. This hip is nevertheless as normal as the other, and a diseased bone was removed from it without material means, working its way from the hip to the thigh. I have also been healed of dropsy, which is supposed to be a sure sign of the end in a case like mine, and of ingrowing toe-nails after they had been operated on twice unsuccessfully.
Christian Science is all in all to me, because it is practicable in every walk of life. To those whose healing seems slow I would say, Hold fast to the truth of being, no matter what the seeming, for "in due season," as the apostle says, "we shall reap, if we faint not."
