[Written for the Sentinel]

Ever-presence

I need Love's healing cup, earth's thirst to quell;
Truth's strong, sure staff upon my upward way;
To hear Thy voice, with cheering tones to tell
There is no night in God's eternal day.

I need Love's arm about me, midst the press;
O'er all Thy smile to banish every care;
To clasp Thy hand, in close pressed tenderness—
For God is Love—and God is everywhere.

I need Thy touch, telling that Thou art near;
Thy presence, when the shadows heavy fall;
And most of all, when gone are those held dear,
None else but Thee—for Thou art All-in-all!
