My gratitude to God for Christian Science is boundless
My gratitude to God for Christian Science is boundless. At the time I investigated this beautiful truth I had a violent temper. Often I tried to govern myself, but without the least avail until I realized the truth stated in Science and Health, that "the divine Mind governs, and ... in Science man reflects God's government" (p. 393).
One demonstration for which I am particularly grateful stands out as an oasis in my stormy journey from sense to Soul. Until I had this battle with Goliath I did not seem to make much progress. This awakening occurred when I had an attack of yellow jaundice. During the entire time I was about as usual, going wherever I had been accustomed to go and meeting many people. The practitioner told me to hold the thought that God's child is perfect, and this was fully realized, as even my husband did not know I had the problem to meet until I told him. I was practically healed the first week, but all the manifestations had not disappeared, so treatment was continued at the request of my husband. Before the next week elapsed the healing was complete. During this attack I ate everything I desired, knowing that I was subject only to God's law. There were abscesses in both ears, and for a whole day I could not hear with one ear, but these conditions were entirely overcome.
For all these blessings I am indeed grateful. I realize that the only true gratitude is to make one's self a living testimony of what Truth is doing, and so am trying each day to manifest perfection. Many times the road seems rough and I stumble and even fall, but I pick myself up knowing that, if my confidence is in Truth, the next time I will do better.
