While it has not been long since my wife and I began the study of Christian Science, the time has been full of great joy and many glorious experiences. According to our belief there was a sad need of something better than any mortal could do to relieve us of our many ailments. I had been under the care of doctors for three or four years. Each diagnosed the trouble as some form of rheumatism, but was able to give only temporary relief. For almost seven years I had been wearing a support on account of a rupture. I also had stomach trouble, and one whole winter everything I ate seemed to distress me, so that the thought would come that anything that meant relief would be acceptable. I prayed God to bless the means employed for my recovery, for I always knew that if ever healing came it would be through the love of our heavenly Father; but I then believed that He required us to use material remedies and would bless them to our good. Now,—all glory be to His holy name and all reverence to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy,—the guiding light of Christian Science has shown me plainly that God does not expect us to come to Him in this way, but rather to accept Him as the only power in heaven and earth.

My wife had chronic stomach disorder for years, and on several occasions nothing but opiates seemed to quiet her. Doctors put her on a diet, the result being that she was reduced in strength and could scarcely get around. At last one physician was afraid her illness was due to gall-stones, and that nothing could relieve her except an operation. Space will not allow of my giving further details as to the many discordant conditions besides those mentioned which have been banished through the better knowledge of divine Truth. Suffice it to say that Christian Science found us in a sad condition, and today we are enjoying good health and are happy. I have discarded the support, having no further need of it, as I was healed of the rupture while studying Science and Health.

Not only are we thankful beyond degree for the healing which has been ours to enjoy, and the positive knowledge of God's response to our feeble efforts to know Him better, but for the glorious spiritual uplift which has been brought into our experience. We are only a short distance on the highway of our God, but we find that just so far as we understand His allness and demonstrate what has already been revealed to us, the way is made clear, and each day brings great blessings.—W. S. Firguson, Gates, Texas.
