Nearly four years ago Christian Science found me in such a condition that life seemed hardly worth living. Since earliest childhood I had suffered from chronic disorder of the bowels. I could scarcely remember a day without headache, and was never able to walk like others of my age; indeed, I was always considered delicate. After my marriage rheumatism was added to my ills, also sleeplessness, and a greater part of each day was spent in resting on a sofa. Everything was tried for me,—medicine, baths, massage; but these brought only temporary relief.
At last my one desire was that if I was to go on living, God would bring me out of all this misery; and He heard my prayer. A faithful friend told me of how she had been brought to Christian Science, and after a month's study of Science and Health I felt that divine Truth had begun its mighty work in me,—that all the error was being driven out. My friend continued to help me, and after two years I could say, "All is well." I am now quite healthy.
I know that God is the only power, that no evil can harm those who look to Him for protection; and the peace and joy that this consciousness has given me far surpasses the physical healing. The convection that Truth does make us free has helped me to think rightly with regard to my children, who have been healthy and strong during these years, whereas before they like myself almost lived on medicine. My gratitude is great for all the help that Christian Science has given, and it goes out also to Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us the Christ, Truth, and taught us to read the Bible rightly. My desire is to become more and more filled with Truth and Love, so that I in my turn may be able to help others find him who is "the way, the truth, and the life."
