In February, 1911, I was healed through Christian Science, after having been in bed for five weeks, unable to retain either food or drink. Four doctors had attended me at different times, but none of them gave me any relief. I suffered from what was called strangulation of the bowels, and the last doctor said I would have to stay in bed for another month, or even longer, but refused to give me medicine, as he said it could do me no good. He left on Saturday, and on Monday a Christian Science practitioner was called. She came again on Tuesday, and on Wednesday morning I went out to the dining room and ate and drank all I wanted.

The doctor heard I was up and well, and asked permission to call. When he saw me he was very much surprised, but said I was doing all right. During my illness I became very thin, but now my weight is even more than it was before I was taken sick. I am seventy-four years old, but feel young and well all the time, and have never been troubled in any way since my healing.

I had been a church member since the age of fourteen, and after my healing in Christian Science went to the minister of the local church and told him of my experience. He said that Science and Health had cured lots of people. I am studying and trying to gain a demonstrable understanding of the truth as taught by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
