In the summer of 1914 my little boy, then three years old, was healed of fever in one night through Christian Science treatment. I was away from all Science help when he became suddenly ill, and was therefore very fearful. The neighbors who came in insisted that I call a physician, and I at last consented. When the doctor came he diagnosed the case as fever, and stated that medicine should be given at once. After I was told what the child's temperature was, fear seemed to grasp me so that I trembled almost as much as he did. The physician said he would come again in the morning.

I knew something must be done. Before this, croup in its worst stage had been overcome through Christian Science, also earache and numerous other ills, and I felt it would be wrong to give medicine. My husband was away, but I telephoned for him and he came home two hours later. On seeing the conditions he said he would not risk having a doctor, but would call my mother over the long distance telephone and ask her to come on the first train. When she arrived at ten o'clock that night, the child was the same as he had been all day, the fever rising if I ceased bathing him; but I can never forget the relief experienced when my mother came in. My fear was gone. She sat up with the child all night alone, and he slept soundly, although she did not bathe him as I had been doing, but just held to the truth of God's perfect child. At daylight he rose perfectly normal, ate a hearty breakfast, and went about playing as though nothing had happened. Later, when the physician called, my little boy went with me to the door, and I was so thankful to be able to present the child himself in answer to the inquiry. The physician was astonished, and made a remark to the effect that he never had seen such a quick healing.

Christian Science has been in our home since I was ten years old, but I never took it up as a study till about four years ago. Words cannot express my thankfulness to God for the spiritual uplift and the good, the peace, and the love it has brought to my consciousness. As a girl I never cared to read the Bible, as I could not understand it, but the spiritual interpretation of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" has made it so plain that it has become a great pleasure to read the Lesson-Sermons. My love and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for bringing this new-old religion to the world is very great, and for all the blessings we have received we shall never cease to be thankful to God.
