I am unspeakably grateful for Christian Science
I am unspeakably grateful for Christian Science. While playing on the back porch our son, eight years of age, fell through the railing of the third floor into the yard below, a distance of thirty-five or forty feet. I immediately declared that God, divine Mind, is All, and that God's idea could not be hurt. The neighbors wanted to send for a doctor immediately, but I told them I would get help for the child. When the boy heard them talking about getting a doctor, he said he was all right, and immediately got up and walked around to prove to them that a doctor was not needed.
In about half an hour, as soon as the neighbors had gone, I called up a Christian Science practitioner and asked for treatment, then read aloud from Science and Health, and in a little while the boy fell asleep. When he awoke two hours later he was bright, cheerful, and happy. He went to bed at nine o'clock that evening and slept until six o'clock the next morning, when he was able to walk as usual. There was not the slightest discoloration or a bruise on his body, with the exception of a few scratches on his face, which disappeared within two or three days.
During the forenoon one of the neighbors called to inquire about the boy, and was even more surprised than she was the day before to see him so free and happy. She said that nothing but the power of God had saved his life, and that she wished they had had that kind of help for their boy, who just a few days before had fallen about six feet and had passed on within a few hours. Our experience shows the difference between Christian Science healing and the material method, and the great cause for gratitude which Christian Scientists have for the glorious revelation of the allness of Spirit and the nothingness of matter. On Monday the boy went back to school, having missed just one half day on account of this experience. There were no bad after effects, and he is a perfectly healthy child.
