The Lectures

Henry D. Van Cleave, attorney, in introducing Clarence C. Eaton, who lectured on Christian Science, said:—

Permit me to say to you, in all candor, that it is my opinion that the greatest mystery of Christian Science is the unerring simplicity of its truth. It is true that every line of scientific thought, to be demonstrated, must have as its basis a fixed, unchangeable law. To prove a particular truth the demonstrator must keep his conclusions in absolute accord with the fundamental laws governing the demonstration. Christian Science, being based upon the unchangeable laws of God, has such a fixed basis that it never fails when rightfully tested by man. It was Christ Jesus' knowledge of the fixed laws of God which enabled him to make the demonstrations that he made while here upon earth. He knew God as an all-wise, all-good, all-loving Father; that God is all Life, Truth, and Love; that He is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, omniactive. Christian Scientists are striving to know God as Christ Jesus knew Him, to have the same Mind in them that was in Christ Jesus, to be just, merciful, and pure. [See Science and Health, p. 497.]
