During the early spring of 1912, after passing through...

During the early spring of 1912, after passing through the various stages of cough, cold, and influenza, my case was finally diagnosed as mastoiditis. After being under the care of one of our best specialists for about two weeks, I was told that longer delay would be fatal, and that an immediate operation was necessary, as I was on the verge of meningitis, for which there was no remedy. Arrangements were made for the operation, and I returned home and told my wife of the trouble which had come to us.

After talking the matter over she spoke of Christian Science treatment. As we neither of us had had any experience in Christian Science and knew very little about it, I at first objected, but finally decided to try it. The first treatment brought such improvement that the operation was postponed for a few days, and finally was abandoned altogether. I placed myself under the care of the practitioner entirely, and after two weeks' treatment returned to work completely healed. The ear is normal and the hearing perfect. Many other discordant conditions have been overcome since then, and words can never express our thankfulness to God, and our gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who gave us this truth. All desire for tobacco has left me, after having been an inveterate user of the weed for thirty-five years.
