The healing of my boy ten years ago led me to investigate Christian Science. At that time he was four years old and had been under the physician's care for a long time, owing to a severe spinal trouble. We were all much alarmed to see him growing weaker every day, so that he had to be carried about, and in our extremity asked for help in Christian Science. After two or three weeks' treatment he was entirely healed. This seemed to me such a wonderful healing that I at once turned to God as my only physician, and from that minute have never had any other help. During these years a number of children's diseases have been overcome, some instantaneously. With the help of a practitioner an eruption of the skin in an aggravated form disappeared in a few days.
My heart goes out in gratitude to God for a healing which occurred about two years ago, that of a severe case of erysipelas. My head and face were terribly swollen, and a high fever was attended with excruciating pain. A practitioner was called, who patiently worked for me, I myself only holding on to the truth of being. There was little relief for the first few days, but suddenly a natural perspiration started, the pain stopped, the swelling went down, and in not more than a week I was up and around, rejoicing and praising God. Some relatives who had seen me in that condition and seemed very anxious about me, marveled that I was well and able to be about so soon.
Another beautiful healing was that of catarrh of the nose and throat. This condition was very slow in yielding. It seemed as if I was to do the work myself, but discouragement would sneak in very often, so that a practitioner again had to be consulted. Generally the ailment was worse at night, so that there was little sleep for me. At last, after several months, it vanished into its nothingness, never to return. It meant much for me to let go of self, and I am most grateful for the awakening of the truth, although it seemed a long journey to travel from sense to Soul.
