It is a duty as well as my greatest pleasure to tell of the blessings received from God through Christian Science. For nearly thirteen years I suffered from heart, stomach, and bowel troubles. Every medicine heard of was taken, and several different doctors treated me. An operation was finally performed, and after leaving the hospital I started West in the hope of regaining health; but it was the same old story,—at the least excitement I would faint away. Five doctors here told me the bowel trouble could not be overcome without an operation.
At last, in August, 1914, a severe case of bronchitis was added to the other difficulties. I became so weak that it was impossible to stand alone, and was so discouraged that I prayed God to take me out of my misery. It was clear that something would have to be done right away. Then the thought of Christian Science came to me. I sent one of my little girls for a friend who is a Christian Scientist and she called a practitioner. The result was an instantaneous healing. When the practitioner left my home I got right up and started to sing my favorite hymns, watered the lawn, got a two weeks' washing ready, and the next day helped to do it. Two days later I went to town and did considerable shopping. Since then I have done all my own work and the sewing for four children. I am in the best of health, and the peace of mind is beautiful. We have prospered in every way since turning to Christian Science.
Our four children attend Sunday school regularly, and the little eleven year old girl has had several demonstrations. Even the three year old baby always says if he gets hurt, "God will heal it." I have had several demonstrations. My husband attends the meetings with me and is becoming interested in Christian Science. I find each day something for which to be grateful, and thank God for the enlightenment received from Christian Science. My understanding of the Scriptures is much clearer than before.
