Words cannot express my gratitude for all the benefits I have received in Christian Science since it first came to my notice in February, 1909. I was in a very weak condition owing to a nervous breakdown, and suffered greatly after partaking of food.

For four months I was confined to the bed, growing weaker and weaker. In the mean time two doctors and a specialist were called, and they advised an operation, after diagnosing my trouble as "dilated stomach." Arrangements were made for me to go into a nursing home, but the doctor who was to perform the operation was going away on a holiday, so for five weeks I stayed with friends in the country to try to gain a little strength, and was taken out in a bath-chair every day. My weakness was so great that I prayed to be released, and am convinced that if the operation had been performed I would not have recovered.

The week after my return home a lady called and told my sister about Christian Science, but my sister, being disheartened, said we had tried every conceivable remedy without relief. The lady asked permission to bring some Christian Science literature to us, and then brought some copies of the Sentinel. I read them all through and thought how beautiful it would be to be healed as were the people who gave the testimonies. At my request my sister asked the lady to come to see me, and she did so two days later. She talked to me of Christian Science, and the following day took me to a practitioner.
