From Our Exchanges

[The Christian Work]

Whether we know it or not, just so far as we live the life which we recognize as the good life, we are living in God. This is the life which Jesus Christ alone has adequately revealed and incarnated; and we make our statement clearer when we say that when we live the life which Jesus Christ lived we are living a life which the mighty river symbolizes in its perennial and exhaustless movement, a life which will no more fail than the river will cease to flow. Jesus himself calls it the eternal life. He says that those who are one with him are living the eternal life; not that they shall have the eternal life bequeathed to them somewhere else, after they die (what a pitiful belittling of his thought that is!), but that they share it here and now; they have entered into life. And it ought not to be incredible that the sources of his life are unfailing.
